Grief Groups are designed to reduce isolation, increase emotional resilience, and foster meaningful connection during life’s most vulnerable transitions.
LANTERN GRIEF GROUPS
To advance our mission, we are hosting free, biweekly grief groups for the community. Groups are loss specific and led by dedicated, trained facilitators.
We know that grief is not linear, time-bound, or easily resolved.
We invite participants to remain in their group for as long as they need. Groups are capped at 12 participants and are organized by type of loss and participant identity to foster deeper peer connection, support, and belonging. We're here to answer any of your questions. Please reach out.

Not all grief follows a death. Life transitions, such as divorce, job loss, illness, identity shifts, empty nests, or shattered dreams can carry their own profound grief. This group offers a held, community space for adults wanting to be witnessed in the grief they are carrying from a life transition.

OUR APPROACH
The Lantern’s approach normalizes grief, affirms that there is no “right way” to grieve.
Our Grief Groups empower participants to listen, reflect, and support one another within a gently guided framework. Our model offers consistent, relationship-centered support that remains available for as long as participants need it.
Grief Groups meet biweekly.

Groups are organized by type of loss and participant identity.
Groups are facilitated by credentialed Lead Facilitators with support from trained Volunteers.
Facilitators and Volunteers receive specialized training in grief-informed care, group dynamics, trauma-awareness, and cultural humility to ensure participants feel emotionally safe, respected, and supported.
Volunteers assist with logistics, hospitality, and participant care, allowing facilitators to remain fully present and responsive during group sessions.
The groups are intentionally open-ended, with no fixed end date.
Participants may join when they feel ready and remain engaged until they determine they are prepared to transition out. This flexible structure reduces barriers to access, acknowledges the unpredictable nature of grief, and supports participants in building trust and connection over time.
Rolling enrollment also allows for a diverse range of experiences and perspectives, enriching the collective learning and support within each group.
Gatherings at The Lantern
We host both ongoing and individual gatherings on a regular basis as a way to come together consistently and wholeheartedly to build community and connection through ritual, art, music, storytelling and shared experiences.
