Film Screening: Finding Groovopolis

  • The Lantern 2828 Southeast Stephens Street Portland, Oregon, 97214 United States (map)

Film Screening + Q&A

In FINDING GROOVOPOLIS, Wil Kristin seeks fatherly advice through the lens of Groovopolis, a never-produced comedic screenplay written by his late dad.

While coming to terms with his father’s death, Wil discovers the original script for Groovopolis, which follows a music programmer who falls overboard at a work party, encounters a group of wild, dancing island inhabitants, and inadvertently records their music before being rescued and spreading the sounds as an antidote to dull, monotonous consumer culture. As elements of Groovopolis begin to unexpectedly echo throughout Wil’s own life, the unusual collaboration becomes an exploration of family, legacy, grief, and navigating adulthood.

Following the screening of his feature documentary film, Producer/Director Wil Kristin will participate in a brief audience Q&A. The film may especially resonate with those interested in grief, relationships, and creative healing through storytelling.
